Orchard Island & Wolfe Island Sanitary Sewer Replacement Project
The Logan County Sewer District is replacing the sanitary sewers Orchard Island and Wolfe Island. The sewer replacement project is necessary due to the failing conditions within the existing sewers that is allowing clean water to enter the sanitary sewers. Clean water is referred to as Inflow & Infiltration (I&I) and causes Sanitary Sewer Overflows and bypasses at the Indian Lake Wastewater Treatment Plant. The Ohio EPA has mandated the Sewer District take the necessary steps to reduce and eliminate clean water intrusion into the sewer system.
This project will replace all main sewer lines and the portion of each connection that resides in the Right of Way or easement for each connected property. The building sewer portion of the sanitary sewer that resides in the Right of Way or easement will include the installation of an Access Valve. PROJECT UPDATES
As of February 28, 2023, the sanitary sewer replacement is overall 72% complete. Listed below are highlights of the project along with an attachment of the overall project timeline.
- Wolf Island
- Sanitary sewers have been installed and passed inspection.
- Road reconstruction and restoration is complete.
- Final site restoration continues.
- Orchard Island
- Sanitary sewers have been installed and are waiting for testing and inspection for Mauger Ave. and all roads to the west.
- Contractor to start restoration work this spring on areas that have been tested and passed inspection.
- Asphalt work will begin once roadway preparation is complete and asphalt companies are open.
